Bangladeshi caretaker government Chief Adviser Fahkruddin Adhmed said Sunday his government will assure all-out measures for agricultural recovery and flood victims' rehabilitation, private news agency UNB reported.

While visiting Jamalpur district, 150 km northwest of capital Dhaka, Ahmed said the government would particularly attach priority to uninterrupted irrigation in the upcoming rice-planting season to make up for the colossal crop damage.

Ahmed expressed his satisfaction over the quick action of the farmers in preparing seedbeds and land for cultivation after the ordeals caused by the devastating floods.

He assured the flood-affected farmers of providing all necessary support from government coffers for their rehabilitation.

The chief adviser expressed gratitude to millions of common people for successfully facing the floods with courage.

"You are the real force of Bangladesh...and your courage to face the natural disaster would remain as an example," he said.

Ahmed said the government is allocating money which will be distributed among the flood victims for their rehabilitation after proper assessment.

The devastating flood which started at the end of July is the most serious one since 1998. About 16 million people in the 39 of the 64 districts of the country have been affected.
