Nepali Election Commission (EC) has decided to allow 43 various non-government organizations to monitor the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) poll on Nov. 22, The Kathmandu Post reported on Monday.
According to the EC, some well established and several newly registered organizations have claimed they will mobilize more than 70,000 observers to monitor the election.
Similarly, Constituent Assembly Election Observation Joint Forum led by former Supreme Court Justice Laxman Aryal has said his organization will deploy 5,000 observers. Likewise, Nepal Bar Association and Non-government Federation Nepal have received permission to mobilize 1,000 and 2,000 observers respectively.
Meanwhile, Asian Network for Free Election (ANFREL), a Bangkok based regional level non-government organization to observe election, has received recognition from the EC to observe the poll.
ANFREL, which had observed all parliamentary elections in the past, has proposed to deploy at least 100 observers across the country for the purpose.
Similarly, EC has sent a letter to the Ministry of Justice, Law and Parliamentary Affairs seeking permission to constitute the Constituent Assembly Member Election Court to deal with possible complaints related to the election.
