Afghanistan's rebel group Taliban has threatened to attack South Korean facilities in their country because of Seoul not pulling out all its citizens as it promised in exchange for the release of South Korean hostages last week, according to South Korea's news agency Yonhap on Monday.

Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, a purported spokesman for the Taliban, said on Sunday that the Islamic fundamentalist group obtained information that some South Koreans were still in Afghanistan.

"If South Korea has broken its promise, then we will attack the South Korean embassy in Kabul and education facilities supported by Seoul," he said.

Nineteen South Koreans arrived in Seoul earlier Sunday after 45 days of captivity by the Taliban. They were among 23 Christian aid workers from Seoul taken hostage in central Afghanistan on July 19.

The kidnappers later killed two male hostages but freed two females.

As conditions for the release, South Korea pledged to withdraw its 200-strong medical and engineering units in Afghanistan by the end of this year, and prohibit Christian missionaries from going to the country.

South Korea also had promised to withdraw all its citizens from the country.

The Taliban set free the 19 hostages after a series of face-to- face negotiations with South Korean officials.
