Malaysia launched the country 's first all-news and information radio station in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.

Radio24, run by the Malaysian National News Agency Bernama, was launched by Malaysian Information Minister Zainuddin Maidin at a ceremony here.

The radio, based at Bernama's head office building, will operate 24 hours a day and be available initially around the capital city here, but is expected to be expanded nationwide in the future, Bernama said.

Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi sent a message to congratulate Bernama on its launch of the country's first all- news radio station on Monday, saying the move was consistent with the government's aspiration of building a knowledge society.
