An American soldier was killed and three others were injured by a roadside bomb explosion near their vehicle in an area near Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Tuesday.
The blast occurred on Sunday morning when the soldiers were conducting combat logistics patrol in the area, the military said in a statement.
The wounded were transported to a military medical facility for treatment and further evaluation, the statement said, adding the incident is under investigation.
The soldier's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.
The latest death brings the number of U.S. soldiers who have been killed in Iraq to about 3,740 since the outbreak of the Iraqi war in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
