The state prosecutors and the lawyers of former Indonesian president Soeharto on Tuesday failed to reach a deal in a mediation for the settlement of corruption case allegedly involving the former president, so the case would be continued to the court, head of the prosecutor team Dahmer Munthe said.
Munthe said after a meeting of the two sides that the result would be reported to the South Jakarta district court on Sept. 10, and prosecutors would bring a number of witness on the next session.
A lawyer of former president Juan Felix Tampubolon said that the lawyers could not accept substances submitted by the prosecutors.
In July, Indonesian prosecutor submitted a lawsuit against former president Soeharto to the South Jakarta district court for an allegation of corruption during his 32-year rules that made the state suffer billion U.S. dollars financial loss.
In august, the state prosecutors and the lawyers of Soeharto agreed for a mediation on the settlement of the case.
Soeharto was toppled by a mass riot in 1998 followed the Asian financial crisis.
