The talks between President Pervez Musharraf and exiled former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto were in the final stage and the outcome would become clear soon, the News Network International news agency (NNI) quoted the Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad as saying on Tuesday.
Talking about the ongoing talks between the government and Benazir Bhutto's People's Party (PPP), Ahmad said that both parties had settled the easy things and they were engaged to resolve the difficult matters. Complex matters were usually difficult to settle,he added.
Benazir Bhutto had made a more pragmatic decision as she announced that she would take a decision about her return on Sept. 14, Ahmad said, adding that the government had numerous options once the deal talks ended in failure.
Ahmad said that the deal talks were in doldrums owing to the ruling party's stand on the amendment about the third election of the Prime Minister. If Benazir Bhutto felt that she could not get benefit from the deal, the chances of deal would ultimately fade away, he added.
Some top aides of Musharraf started to talk with Benazir Bhutto and PPP in London on Aug. 26 on a power-sharing deal in the forthcoming elections of Pakistan. The two parties have held several rounds of talks but still have not clinched a final deal.
