Visiting Italian Foreign Minister Massimo D'alema voiced Tuesday his hope that all concerned parties, including Syria, should be invited to attend the U.S.- proposed international peace conference on Mideast.

D'alema made the appeal at a joint press conference with Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa following their meeting.

The Italian top diplomat told the reporters that the upcoming Mideast conference, which was reportedly to be held in November in Washington, should lay out its framework and a timetable for solving the conflict in the region.

D'alema said his talks with Moussa focused on ways of taking the opportunity of the U.S. initiative to reach a solution to the Mideast conflict, adding that time has come for the region to talk about a peace agreement not only a peace process.

Italy and the European Union are supporting efforts to hold the Mideast peace conference, said D'alema, while welcoming the role of the AL in seeking solutions to the conflicts in the region.

Moussa said the conference should be well-prepared in order to reach important resolutions to help solve the Arab-Israeli conflict.

On July 16, U.S. President George W. Bush proposed to held an international conference, which would bring together Israel, the Palestinians and some neighboring Arab states to help resume the stalled Middle East peace talks.
