Vietnam and Laos will obtain good achievements in fostering their cooperation, contributing to the national construction and development of each country, said Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung.
The two neighbor countries will strengthen their cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, mineral exploitation, exploration and processing, hydroelectricity, seaport services, infrastructure, transport, tourism, telecommunications, and banking, the local newspaper People Wednesday quoted Hung as saying on the occasion of 45th anniversary of their diplomatic relations establishment.
Vietnam and Laos have agreed to increase their cooperation's effectiveness, fully tap their cooperation potential, and ensure the stable development of their cooperation projects, he said. The achievements of the two countries' renewal causes have positively affected the bilateral relations.
Vietnam and Laos have seen smooth development in their friendly ties, especially in the fields of politics, economy, security, defense, and education and training since their diplomatic relations establishment on Sept. 5, 1962, he said.
The two countries' trade has been targeted at one billion U.S. dollars in 2010 and 2 billion dollars in 2015, up from nearly 300 million dollars in 2006, Hung said, adding that Vietnam is one of biggest foreign investors in Laos with 76 licensed projects totaling 550 million dollars so far.
