The Vietnamese government will donate 50,000 U.S. dollars to help the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) overcome the consequences of devastating floods in the country last month, local newspaper Vietnam News reported Thursday.
At least 600 people were reported dead or missing after the floods. About one million were affected by the downpours, with thousands injured and many more left homeless.
The DPRK also suffered severe damage to its infrastructure after landslides and rain left hundreds of kilometers of roads and railways inundated, the newspaper said.
