Two militants of the Islamic Resistance Movements , or Hamas, wounded early on Thursday in an Israeli military incursion in al-Garara town east of the southern Gaza Strip city of Kahn Younis, medics and witnesses said.

Witnesses in the town said that at least 15 Israeli army tanks, bulldozers and armored vehicles rolled into the controlled town backed by fighting helicopters amid intensive gunfire on the town's homes and farms.

They added that Israel Special Forces broke into several homes in the town and searched into its contents, while bulldozers razed large areas of cultivated farms. Gunshots and explosions were heard in the town.

The witnesses also said that Palestinian militants and Israeli soldiers exchanged fire during the ongoing operation, while hospital officials in Khan Younis said that two people were injured.

The Israeli incursion into al-Garara town came shortly after the Israeli security cabinet decided on Wednesday to carry out limited incursions into certain areas in the Gaza Strip to stop rockets attacks on Israel.

Militant groups of Islamic Jihad, Hamas and the Popular resistance committees said in separate pamphlets that they would intensify their attacks on Israel, if Israel escalates its operations against them in the Gaza Strip.
