Chinese friendship association held a reception Thursday in Beijing to celebrate the 59th anniversary of the foundation of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
Feng Zuoku, vice president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), said at the reception that China and the DPRK are friendly neighbors which are joined by common mountains and rivers and as close as lips and teeth.
"The traditional friendship, which was created and nurtured by the leaders of the older generation of both countries, has been deeply rooted in the hearts of the two peoples," said Feng at the reception, jointly held by the CPAFFC and the China-DPRK Friendship Association.
He said it is the firm guideline of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government, and also the sincere hope of the Chinese people to consolidate and develop China-DPRK traditional friendship.
"We will, as always, work with the DPRK comrades to make unremitting efforts for the inheritance and further development of China-DPRK friendship," said Feng.
DPRK Ambassador to China Choe Jin Su said the traditional friendship between the DPRK and China has continued to develop well thanks to the concern of the leaders of both countries.
He added that the DPRK side will make unremitting efforts together with the Chinese side to further promote the development of DPRK-China friendly and cooperative ties.
Some 50 officials, scholars and persons from various circles attended the reception.
The DPRK was founded on Sept. 9, 1948.
