A blast Thursday night injured 16 people in southern Pakistani city of Karachi, state-run media said in an early Friday report.

The explosion caused by a hand grenade occurred near a roadside tea shop, police said, quoted by Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) news agency.

At least two of the injured were in serious conditions, said the APP report, which however offered no more details.

In regards to the blast, private Geo TV channel quoting eyewitnesses said a car stopped near a crowded hotel in Karachi and a cracker was thrown from the car injuring 16 people.
