Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Chief Executive Donald Tsang met with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in Sydney on Friday to exchange views on recent Hong Kong developments, according to news release from the Information Services Department of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government.
During the morning's 20-minute session, the two leaders exchanged views on the latest social, political and economic developments in Hong Kong, the news release said.
Rice expressed appreciation for Hong Kong's efforts to tackle terrorist financing through international financial centers. Tsang assured her that Hong Kong had been vigilant in preventing all forms of money laundering.
The two agreed that World Trade Organization (WTO) member economies should bring the Doha round negotiation to a timely and successful conclusion.
According to the news release, Tsang will join the Leaders' Dialogue with the APEC Business Advisory Council on Saturday morning and attend the Economic Leaders' Meeting of the Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, scheduled for Sept. 8-9.
