The UN Security Council vehemently condemned on Friday the latest terrorist attack in Algeria, and urged all states to cooperate in bringing perpetrators to justice.
In a presidential statement read out by Jean-Maurice Ripert France, its President for the month of September, the council condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack that occurred Thursday in Batna, Algeria.
It also expressed its deep sympathy and condolences to the victims of this heinous act of terrorism and their families, and to the people and the government of Algeria.
The council also underlined the need to bring perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of that reprehensible act of terrorism to justice, urging all states to cooperate actively with the Algerian authorities in that regard.
Meanwhile, it reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constituted one of the most serious threats to international peace and security, and that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed.
