Bulgaria intends to host a meeting on the future of Kosovo before the end of the year, Bulgarian Minister of the European Affairs Gergana Gruncharova said on Saturday, reported Sofia News Agency.
The Bulgarian European Minister revealed the idea at an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Portugal, where the future of Kosovo was on top of the agenda, said the agency.
The meeting would bring together the representatives of the three negotiators -- the United States, Russia and the European Union.
The European foreign ministers agreed in Portugal to stick to the framework of special UN envoy Marti Ahtisaari, reported the agency.
Earlier this year, Marti Ahtisaari called for a factual independence of the Serbian province after a transitional period during which it would be under EU supervision, the agency reminded too.
The United States has expressed its readiness to recognize Kosovo's independence, while the European Union said the bloc should consider Serbia's request for integration if it were to agree to the Ahtisaari plan.
But obviously, Serbia is strongly against the "independence" of Kosovo.
A recent poll found that a majority of Serbs would give up EU membership if it meant losing the province, the agency said too.
