Vietnam plans to disallow passengers on domestic flights to carry liquids in their hand luggage from mid-October in order to ensure flight security, according to local newspaper Transport on Monday.

Different kinds of liquids, including alcohol, bottled water and perfume will be not allowed to be present in hand luggage. They, excluding baby food and medicines needed during the flight, should be put into cabin baggage.

Each passenger should place baby food and medicines in a transparent plastic bag of which each container must not exceed 100 ml. All other containers of a larger capacity must be placed in checked baggage.

Vietnam has already disallowed passengers on the international flights to carry liquids in their hand luggage, the newspaper said.

Vietnam's air industry served nearly five million domestic and foreign passengers in the first seven months of this year, posting a year-on-year rise of 16.7 percent. Meanwhile, the industry transported 76,300 cargoes, down 7.8 percent, according to the country's General Statistics Office.

Vietnam's aviation market is expected to annually grow 12-14 percent in the 2006-2010 period, 9-11 percent in the 2010-2015 period, and 10-12 percent in the 2015-2020 period, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam.
