An American soldier died from wounds sustained in a rocket attack in the northern Iraqi province of Kirkuk on Sunday, the U.S. military said on Monday.
Another soldier was wounded in the attack which targeted the U. S. soldiers who were on patrol in the area, the military said in a statement, adding that the wounded was transported to a military medical facility for treatment.
Earlier, the military said that one of its soldiers was killed and two others were wounded in the day during combat operations in western Baghdad.
An Iraqi interpreter was also wounded in the attack, it added.
The names of the killed soldiers are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the statements said.
The latest deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers who have been killed in Iraq to more than 3,760 since the outbreak of the Iraqi war in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
