Family members and friends of victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the United States were joined by politicians, firefighters, first responders, and ground zero workers on Tuesday to commemorate the sixth anniversary of the attacks in Lower Manhattan.
For the first time, the city's memorial service is taking place away from the World Trade Center site, at nearby Zuccotti Park, but family members will be allowed to go down into the pit to pay tribute to their loved ones.
