Two Romanian military officers from the NATO mission of training the Iraqi forces were wounded in a missile attack on Tuesday afternoon, Romanian Defense Ministry announced in a press release.

According to the release, Lieutenant Colonel Dorin Petrut's left leg was wounded. He had surgery at the hospital of the Multinational Coalition in Baghdad, the Iraqi capital.

Major Iulian Daniliuc, who had a wound at his shoulder, was taken care at the base. He need not to go to hospital.

The attack occured on base Camp Victory, near Baghdad, around 15:45 local time (1245 GMT), the press release said.

The Romanian army is participating with three officers in NATO Training Mission in Iraq under the command of the North-Atlantic Alliance.

Romania has 1,612 soldiers deployed abroad, of which 600 are in Iraq, the rest in Afghanistan and Kosovo.
