The military wing of Hamas movement shelled an Israeli-run commercial crossing in southeastern Gaza with six mortar shells on Wednesday morning.
Izz el-Deen al-Qassam Brigades, the Hamas military wing, said in a statement sent to the press that the fire has targeted Sufa crossing which Israel closed last Sunday as part of security measures.
The rocket attack came in response to the Israeli offensive against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and West Bank, said the statement.
Meanwhile, the Poular Resistance Committees (PRC) has also claimed responsibility for firing a home-made rocket into southern Israeli city of Sderot.
The PRC vowed its fighters were ready "to counter any Israeli invasion in Gaza."
On Tuesday, up to 70 Israeli soldiers were wounded when a Palestinian rocket landed on their camp while they were asleep in southern Israel. The Islamic Jihad (Holy War) and the PRC claimed the responsibility.
The Israeli government is still studying the ways to respond to the attack on the army camp, which will target the Gaza Strip now under Hamas' rule after its takeover by force from the Fatah forces loyal to President Mahmoud Abbas.
In central Gaza Strip, residents said a number of Israeli army tanks have rolled into the outskirts of al-Maghazi refugee camp after entering about 400 meters across security fence separating Israel and Gaza.
