Iraqis do not approve of partitioning Iraq into Sunni, Shiite and Kurdish parts and the important thing is to allow the natural process of decentralization to take place in the country, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said in an interview released by the State Department on Thursday.

"The most important thing is that I do not think I have ever heard any Iraqis who think that is a good idea. Iraqis think of themselves as an Iraq nation," Rice said.

"They have differences, they have sectarian differences, but they are all a part of Iraq," Rice said.

What is important is to allow the natural process of decentralization to take place and allow local Iraqis to be increasingly in charge of their own future, Rice added.

Violence sectarian violence in Iraq have claimed lives of thousands of Iraqis, and there has been suggestion inside the United States of dividing Iraq into three parts belonging respectively to Sunni, Shiite and Kurdish people.
