The armed wing of Islamic Jihad ( Holy War) movement rejected on Saturday Hamas movement's calls for halting attacks on Gaza crossings controlled by Israel.
Abu Hamza, spokesman of Jihad armed wing al-Quds Brigades, told reporters that his group "would reject Hamas government spokesman's calls" and "we deal with crossings the same as we deal with Israeli communities."
On Wednesday, Taher el-Nouno, a spokesman for the deposed Hamas- led government in Gaza, called on militant groups to stop attacking crossing points, mainly commercial ones, on the borders with Israel during the month of Ramadan.
He said in a statement that attacking crossings by mortar shells and rockets "would badly harm the Palestinian interests, and would give Israel an excuse for a large-scale offensive on Gaza."
Announcing the Jihad group's rejection to the Hamas' call, Abu Hamza said that "these crossings are an entrance to the Palestinian death and suffering. Borders, crossings, towns and communities are all our targets."
Early this week, the group also claimed its responsibility for firing one homemade rocket at an Israeli army base north of the Gaza Strip into southern Israel. The attack wounded around 70 Israeli soldiers, four were in serious condition.
Abu Hamza expected that the Israeli army would launch a large- scale military operation against the Gaza Strip in response to the Palestinian rockets attacks.
He called on all militants to be united against an Israeli offensive.
