Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat warned Israel on Sunday that military incursions into the Palestinian territories would lead to more violence.

Erekat told reporters here that the Israeli attacks on the Palestinian territories in both Gaza Strip and the West Bank "will result in a widening spiral of violence, chaos and extremism."

Earlier Sunday, two Palestinians were shot dead in two separate incidents in the West Bank cities of Nablus and Hebron. Seven more wounded as Israeli army Special Forces entered into the two areas.

Erekat called on Israel to stop military actions against the Palestinians, and exert efforts to launch a meaningful peace process leading to the establishment of an independent state within the 1967 borders with east Jerusalem as its capital."

Witnesses said that at least ten Israeli military tanks and several bulldozers rolled into eastern Rafah in southern Gaza Strip amidst intensive gunfire and under cover of Israeli fighter jets.

The Israeli troops stormed Palestinian homes, said the witnesses, adding that Israeli helicopters gunships fired one missile at an empty mosque, causing severe material damage, no injuries were reported.
