Seven people were killed and up to 20 others wounded when two car bomb explosions ripped through a parking-lot near the Health Ministry in central Baghdad on Tuesday, an Interior Ministry source said.
"Our latest reports said that two car bombs detonated in a quick succession in a parking-lot near the Health Ministry in Bab al-Mu'adham area in central Baghdad, killing up to seven people and wounding 20 others," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The incident took place at about 9:30 a.m. (0530 GMT) and damaged more than dozen of civilian cars, the source said.
Earlier, the source put the toll at five killed and 15 others injured by the attack.
Elsewhere in Baghdad, other bomb attacks killed three people and wounded seven others in eastern and southern Baghdad, according to the police.
"A car bomb parked near an intersection in the Zayouna neighborhood in eastern Baghdad, detonated in the morning, killing two civilians and wounding five others," the police said.
Separately, a roadside bomb went off near a police patrol in Baghdad's southern neighborhood of Za'faraniyah, killing a pedestrian and injuring two more, they said.
Violence continues infesting Baghdad's streets despite the U.S. army's surge in the war-torn country in a bid to rein in the unbridled insurgency.
