The eight-party meeting held at Nepali capital on Wednesday to pacify the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist)(CPN-M) not to withdraw from the interim government ended with the top leaders laying emphasis on the unity among the parties.
According to local media house's website ekantipur, the leaders have agreed to resolve all the prevailing differences on the basis of political consensus.
At the meeting, Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala said that the eight-party unity was essential as the political situation of the country was serious.
"If the eight parties remain divided then the regressive elements will stand to benefit," a source quoted PM Koirala as saying.
Similarly, Chairman of the CPN-M Prachanda also stressed the need to keep the eight-party unity in tact.
The leaders have also agreed to meet soon for detailed discussion on the reasons that led the CPN-M to quit the government.
Earlier Wednesday morning, the separate meetings of the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML have urged the CPN-M to withdraw its decision of defection from the interim government and extent support for holding the elections.
Demanding full proportional representative electoral system and announcement of republic through the interim parliament ahead of holding the polls, the CPN-M on Tuesday quit the government and unveiled two-week long protest programs aimed at disrupting the constituent assembly (CA) polls.
