Nepal and South Korea have signed a memorandum of understanding, paving the way for the construction of a Government Integrated Data and Training Center.
According to The Himalayan Times Thursday's report, as per the memorandum, the S.Korean government, through the Korean International Development Agency (KOICA), will provide 3.5 million U.S. dollars for the construction of the center.
S.Korean ambassador to Nepal Nam Sang-jung and joint-secretary at the Foreign Aid Coordination Division under the Nepal's Ministry of Finance Krishna Gyawali, signed the MoU Wednesday to support the project.
Though the e-governance master plan 2006 had prioritized this project, the construction had been deferred owing to lack of funds.
Through this project, the KOICA aims to help build infrastructure for e-governance in Nepal. The KOICA will also provide equipment and materials necessary for the operation of the data center, among others.
