A Palestinian teenager was killed after an Israeli army bulldozer drove over him in the refugee camp of al-Buriej, east of the central Gaza Strip, Thursday morning, medics and witnesses said.

The witnesses said that several Israeli army tanks and bulldozers backed by attack helicopters stormed the Palestinian- controlled area east of central Gaza Strip amid intensive gunfire.

They said the Israeli vehicles rolled one km into the area at predawn, while an Israeli helicopter opened fire at the area, wounding at least two gunmen, whom were taken afterwards to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Palestinian medics at al-Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza said that one Palestinian teenager was killed after an Israeli army bulldozer drove over him, and two militants were shot.

Mo'aweya Hassanein, chief of emergency in the Ministry of Health said the two wounded are in serious conditions.

The Israeli operation is still going on, while Palestinian security sources said several Israeli army tanks and armored vehicles also stormed the eastern area of Rafah town in southern Gaza Strip. No injuries were reported there yet.

Israeli Radio quoted Israeli army sources as saying that the aim of the incursion is to stop rocket attacks on Israel. It said that nine Palestinians were arrested in the operation in Gaza.
