A senior Islamic Hamas movement leader said Thursday his movement is still expecting an unconditional dialogue with rival Fatah movement led by President Mahmoud Abbas.
Said Siam, former minister of interior in the first Hamas-led government, said in an interview with the pro-Hamas Daily of Palestine that "our hands are extended for dialogue, and the exit of this crisis can only be through dialogue."
"Asking Hamas to end its control of Gaza as a condition for the dialogue resumption is ridiculous, because the Palestinian decision, which comes from Ramallah, is linked to the Israeli- American will," said Siam.
Hamas movement's militants and the executive security force that Siam founded in May last year took control of the Gaza Strip in mid June after they defeated Abbas' Fatah militants and security forces.
Siam revealed that his movement received a series of messages indicating that some Fatah leaders have plans "to bring a status of chaos and disorder back to the Gaza Strip, and also to hurt some Hamas political leaders."
"We warn them of attacking Hamas political leaders, because after that Fatah leaders won't be away from punishment and retaliation would be very harsh," said Siam, adding that "Hamas is carefully studying these warnings."
Meanwhile, Siam strongly slammed President Abbas, saying "It's my first time I discovered that he (Abbas) is bloody. My message to Abbas is that Gaza Strip is an area which is not easy to be broken."
