Eight people died and eight others fell sick in Bangladesh's Narayanganj district, 20 km southeast of capital Dhaka, Friday after eating poisonous fish.

Local sources were quoted by private news agency UNB as saying a number of families Thursday evening bought some fish in the market. After taking the fish with their meals on Thursday night, eight fell sick and died the following morning.

Eight others also fell sick after eating poisonous fish. All of them have been sent to Dhaka for better treatment.
