Vietnam is learning China's WTO- related experiences in specific spheres, including macro economic policies, social security and environmental protection, said Do Hoai Nam, chairman of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, on Monday.
Chinese policy makers and scholars are to share the experiences with Vietnam in such areas as growth model change, law adjustment, farming, social security, opening up in service, finance and banking sectors, anti-dumping, and combination of economic development and environmental protection, said the chairman at an international workshop entitled "China in 5 Years after WTO Accession: Sharing Experiences with Vietnam" which opened here Monday.
Chinese speakers will also share with Vietnam concrete policies adopted by authorities of Beijing, Guangdong and Guangxi to take advantages and overcome challenges posed by China's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in December 2001, he said.
At the two-day workshop, Hu Qianwen, Chinese ambassador to Vietnam, said: "China and Vietnam are now WTO members, actively accelerating their opening-up process, and striving to improve investment environment. In this context, we believe that win-win cooperative ties between enterprises will be reinforced, and economic and trade cooperation relations of the two countries will make a substantial leap."
Vietnam officially became the WTO's 150th member on Jan. 11, 2007, after nearly 12 years of entry negotiations. It is seen as Asia's best-performing economy after China.
