The Palestinian caretaker government, based in this West Bank city, said Monday it had no information if Israel was going to include old prisoners among the group who it would release as a goodwill gesture.

Ashraf al- Ajrami, minister of prisoners' affairs under the caretaker government, said, "The Israeli statements indicate that the sentences of the 90 prisoners set to release were about to finish soon."

Al-Ajrami said Israel refused to listen to the Palestinian viewpoint over the issue of the prisoners and rejected to "put a clear method as the basis for resolving this outstanding matter."

On Sunday, the Israeli government approved the release of 90 prisoners, the vast majority of whom was affiliated with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement, as a goodwill gesture towards Abbas.

The Palestinian presidency has welcomed the Israeli move and demanded the release of all prisoners, which totaled more than 11, 000 in the Israeli jails.

However, the Islamic movement Hamas, which has been ruling the Gaza Strip since mid-June, criticized Israel's decision, saying it was simply an Israeli political maneuver.
