Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas movement's spokesman in Gaza, held on Monday Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert responsible for keeping captive Israeli corporal Gilad Shalit in imprisonment.

"Olmert is the one who is responsible for Shalit's tragedy," said Abu Zuhri while showing up at a weekly rally to support prisoners jailed in Israel.

He also passed on a message to Shalit's family via media, saying "If you really want to end this cause and see your son free, pressure your government's prime minister."

Israel on Sunday decided to set free 90 Palestinian prisoners from its jails as a goodwill gesture and a latest measure to bolster the moderate Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Israeli Radio reported earlier that the Israeli decision to free 90 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails "is to exert pressure on Shailt's captors to free him."

However, the Hamas spokesman shrugged off the Israeli pressure, saying "There's nothing new. This issue wouldn't be finalized, unless Israel expresses commitments to the conditions that Hamas movement presented."

Hamas armed wing, al-Qassam Brigades, and two minor militant groups kidnapped Shalit from an Israeli army post southeast of Gaza Strip on June 25, 2006.

The captors conditioned the return of Shalit on the release of 1,450 Palestinian prisoners jailed in Israel.

The spokesman, meanwhile, slammed the Israeli decision to free only Fatah movement's prisoners, saying the move further "widens the internal Palestinian cleavage."
