Chinese top political advisor Jia Qinglin met Tuesday in Beijing with former Zambian President Kenneth David Kaunda.
Jia, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, hailed the sound development of China-Zambia relationship, saying bilateral cooperation in various fields had been fruitful since the two established diplomatic ties 43 years ago.
He said that Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to Zambia early this year had promoted bilateral relations to a higher level.
Jia called Kaunda "an old friend" of the Chinese people, saying Kaunda had created the China-Zambia traditional friendship and made remarkable contributions to the development of China-Zambia and China-Africa friendship.
Kaunda said Zambia-China and Africa-China relations were a model of friendly relations of cooperation between developing countries, pledging that he will continue to make his efforts in promoting such relations.
Kaunda is invited by the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs for a visit to China.
