A leading member of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement said Tuesday the faction was suffering from an internal crisis.
"The crisis was inside Fatah movement but not inside the Gaza leadership," Ahmed Hellis, a Gaza-based Fatah leader, told Israel Radio.
Hellis made his remarks after a Fatah representative in the Gaza Strip, which has been under Hamas rule since mid-June, had resigned in protest of "the lack of responsibility from our counterparts in (the West Bank city) Ramallah."
After Hamas defeat Fatah and seized control of the Gaza Strip in June, many Gaza-based Fatah leaders had fled to the West Bank, where Abbas appointed a new interim government in Ramallah, replacing the deposed Hamas government.
Only a few Fatah's senior members remained in Gaza, but they had reportedly complained that they were neglected by Ramallah as they had to face the ruling Hamas.
Hellis said Fatah's Central Committee and the Revolutionary Council have not hold any meeting in over three months following losing the Gaza Strip.
