The third annual "Clinton Global Initiative" begins here on Wednesday, bringing together world leaders in the fields of business, government, science and religion.
Developed by former U.S. President Bill Clinton, the three-day conference aims at addressing some of the world's most pressing issues, including energy, climate change, education, global health and poverty.
Participants make commitments to work on one of the topics and then report on their progress throughout the year.
Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, celebrity couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and tennis star Andre Agassi are expected to attend the conference.
Last year the conference raised over 7 billion dollars.
