Russia has asked concerned sides in Myanmar to show restraint and find ways to pull situation back into normal track, said a Foreign Ministry statement issued on Wednesday.

"We voice deep concern over further aggravation of the internal situation in the Myanmar Union due to protest actions between the authorities and the opposition in certain cities of the country that resulted in losses of lives," said the statement.

"We consider counter-productive any attempts to use these events in order to put pressure from outside or interfere into internal affairs of this sovereign state ... We believe that the events in Myanmar cannot pose a threat to international and regional peace and security," it said.

Some young Buddhist monks and people were still staging demonstrations in some areas of Myanmar's biggest city of Yangon Wednesday afternoon despite imposition of curfew order and ban of demonstration in the city Tuesday night.
