U.S. President George W. Bush signed an executive order on Thursday to tighten sanctions on Myanmar.

According to the executive order, the assets of 14 Myanmar's government officials under U.S. jurisdiction will be frozen and U. S. citizens or groups are forbidden to do financial transactions with them.

Meanwhile, Bush urged "all nations that have influence" with Myanmar to help end the violence.

"I call on all nations that have influence with the regime to join us in supporting the aspirations of the Burmese people and to tell the Burmese Junta to cease using force on its own people, who are peacefully expressing their desire for change," Bush said in a statement.
