Israeli army killed two Palestinian militants early Monday during clashes in eastern Gaza city, paramedics and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced.
The announcement was made after Hamas military wing has initially denied Israeli reports that the two gunmen were killed in the clashes sparked when Israeli Special Forces entered the Palestinian-controlled side of the border after midnight.
Mu'awia Hassanin, director of ambulance service, said the Israeli authorities allowed the medical crews to search the area after the sunup and two dead bodies were found.
Izz el-Deen al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, said that the slain were Ahmed al-Amoudi, 23, and Bilal Abu Shakian, 20.Both of them were from Jabaliya refugee camp, close to the scene of the operation.
The situation in the border area alongside eastern Gaza city where was tense last night. Israel said two gunmen were killed and an Israeli soldier was wounded in the fire exchange.
Palestinian militant groups of Hamas and the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) claimed responsibility for blowing up a number of bombs that prevented the Israeli forces from rolling more towards Jabaliya.
