South Korean Unification Minister Lee Jae-joung said Monday that the upcoming inter-Korena summit will not be affected by the outcomes of the current six-party talks.

"The South Korean government keep a close watch on the development of the six-party talks but the inter-Korean summit will not be affected by the outcomes of the six-party talks," said Lee at a news conference held at the press center for the inter- Korean summit set for Oct. 2-4.

"Seoul shares common interest with the six-party talks on the nuclear issues. It is very important for all related parties to take a responsible attitude and implement their obligations. To resolve the nuclear issue, an in-depth discussion between Pyongyang and Washington is especially crucial," said the minister.
