Vietnam earned some 48,000 U.S. dollars from exporting fresh flowers to China in September, up 20 percent over August, according to local newspaper Saigon Liberation on Tuesday.
Vietnamese flowers from central highlands Da Lat city, Hanoi capital and northern Hai Phong city, including rose, daisy and orchid, are much favored by such Chinese southern cities as Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
Last month, the volume of vegetables exported to China stood at 100 tons. Main items included cabbage, lettuce, haricot bean, onion, pumpkin and mushroom.
Vietnam exported 204 million dollars worth of fruits and vegetables, mostly to China, Japan, China's Taiwan and Singapore, in the first eight months of this year, a year-on-year surge of 19. 4 percent, according to the Trade Information Center under the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Vietnam has planned to reap 760 million dollars in 2010 and 1.2 billion dollars in 2020 from exporting fruits and vegetables, up from 263 million dollars in 2006.
