Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General Ibrahim Gambari left Yangon on Tuesday afternoon after concluding his four-day mission to Myanma.
Earlier on the day before ending his trip, Gambari, special adviser of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, met with the country's top leader Senior-General Than Shwe, Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC), in Nay Pyi Taw, the new capital of the country.
So far no details were disclosed by both sides.
On Sunday, Gambari met with Acting Prime Minister and SPDC First Secretary Lieutenant-General Thein Sein, Minister of Information Brigadier-General Kyaw Hsan, Minister of Culture Major- General Khin Aung Myint and Deputy Foreign Minister U Kyaw Thu in the new capital.
After that on the same day, he also met in Yangon with detained leader of the National League for Democracy (NLD) Aung San Suu Kyi for over an hour and consulted with the UN Country Team and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Gambari came amid widespread mass demonstrations by Buddhist monks and people in several parts of the country since Sept. 18, arrived in Yangon on Saturday via Singapore to look into the situation of the country and play the UN part in seeking for Myanmar's national reconciliation.
Gambari last came to Myanmar twice in May and November 2006.
The situation in Yangon has been calm for the last three days.
