Witnesses said a huge explosion was heard in western Gaza City, and they said that they also heard intensive gunfire following the blast. Ambulances rushed to the scene and took the remains of three people.
Reports on the reasons behind the explosion were conflicting. Some witnesses said there was a ticking bomb in the car that suddenly blew up, killing three people and totally destroyed the car.
