A militant from the Islamic Hamas movement was shot dead by Israeli soldiers on Wednesday during an Israeli ground operation in southern Gaza Strip, medics and witnesses said.
The man was killed as several Israeli army tanks and armored vehicles stormed al-Fahkari neighborhood, east of the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis, while militants opened fire at the Israeli army armored vehicles, said witnesses.
Local residents said that the army bulldozers leveled agricultural lands amid intensive exchange of fire with Palestinian militants in the area, during which one militant was shot in the head.
Medics confirmed that a Palestinian died in the hospital of his sustained wounds shortly after he was shot in the head by Israeli soldiers.
Earlier Wednesday predawn, another Hamas militant was killed and one wounded in an Israeli airstrike on a group of Hamas militants east of the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah.
Also in northern Gaza Strip, two militants survived after an Israeli artillery shell was fired at them, Palestinian witnesses said.
