Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa on Wednesday called for holding an Arab ministerial meeting to prepare for a U.S.-proposed international conference on Mideast peace, Egypt's official MENA news agency reported.

Following a consultative meeting at the level of AL chief delegates here at the AL headquarters, Moussa said he may convoke a meeting for the Arab peace initiative committee or the Arab Foreign Ministers Council to discuss arrangements for the upcoming peace conference.

During the consultative meeting focused on the U.S.-brokered peace conference, Moussa briefed the AL chief delegates on the outcome of his contacts on Mideast issues last week on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings in New York.

Several members of the pan-Arab bloc said that arrangements for the Mideast conference are below the required level, Moussa noted.

In addition, the AL chief renewed the Arab stance that the peace conference reportedly to be held in November should include all parties concerned and discuss all issues that should be tackled.

According to an earlier report, the United States has picked Annapolis, the capital of Maryland, as the expected site of the Mideast peace conference, but the agenda of the meeting has remained unknown up to now.
