The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) is planning Grade A international friendly games for the Super Eagles ahead of Ghana 2008 Nations Cup finals and has been negotiating with Spain and Germany.
Already, coach Berti Vogts had picked up 19 players for the friendly match against Mexico in Mexico City on Oct. 14, the Guardian reported on Thursday.
The NFA Secretary-General, Bolaji Ojo-Oba, who was happy with the game against Mexico, said the association had begun talks with Spain and Germany for friendlies.
"We want the Super Eagles to be involved in regular friendly games before the Nations Cup and we are happy that the one against Mexico has materialized," he said.
"We have arranged to play Slovenia and other countries. Right now, we are in talks with Germany and Spain because they are in position to give the Eagles tough challenges. We also have England in mind. We have not decided anything yet but we are confident that we will get one of them," he said.
The secretary added that friendly games would also be arranged for Nigeria's women football team, the Super Falcons, in their preparation for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, he said.
"The NFA has a weak financial base and we are working very hard to change the situation," he said.
