The ruling Pakistan Muslim League- Q (PML-Q) held a meeting at the Prime Minister's House in Islamabad on Thursday to review the current political situation, a local TV channel DAWN NEWS reported.
The top leadership of PML-Q attended the meeting and would likely propose some changes in the national reconciliation ordinance, the DAWN NEWS report said.
President Pervez Musharraf asked the PML-Q leaders to understand the importance of the ordinance and develop consensus on it.
Local media reports say that the government has worked out a draft of the national reconciliation ordinance, which will grant amnesty to politicians, bureaucrats and businessmen who are facing corruption charges.
The opposition Peoples Party (PPP), led by exiled former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, said on Thursday that the talks with the government had stalled and PPP would meet in London on Thursday to make a decision on whether their parliamentarians should tender resignations from the National Assembly and provincial assemblies.
