India Saturday appeared set to allow its air force to take part in a US-hosted military drill scheduled for January next year, saying war games provided an opportunity to test New Delhi's defense preparedness.
India Defense Minister A. K. Antony told reporters in New Delhi that his country was itself experienced in hosting war games.
"If such exercises are highly essential to test the preparedness of the armed forces, the government does give its approval," he remarked when asked whether India would allow its air force to take part in the Red Flag military exercises planned by the U.S. for its NATO and other allies in January.
America's 414th combat training holds military exercises involving fighter pilots from the U.S., NATO and other allied countries for real combat situations.
