Two people were killed and eight policemen were wounded in a suicide truck bomb attack targeted a police checkpoint outside the al-Alam town in Salahudin province on Monday, a provincial police source said.
"Our latest reports said that two civilians were killed and eight policemen were injured, including four in critical condition, by the suicide truck bomb explosion," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
"A suicide bomber drove his explosive-laden truck into a police checkpoint at the entrance of the Alam town, some 10 km east of the provincial capital of Tikrit," the source said.
Earlier, the source did not provide details about the victim's number, because they were transported to different nearby hospitals and medical centers by police vehicles, civilian cars and ambulances.
