Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement said on Monday it supports the Palestinian negotiation team which will hold first meeting with the Israeli counterpart crew later in the day.

"We trust the negotiation team which is led by Ahmed Qurei who has accurate knowledge about the mechanism of negotiations," Fatah spokesman Fahmi al-Za'arier said in a statement sent to the press.

Jerusalem-based al-Quds daily reported on Monday that President Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert have "issued various instructions to their negotiation crews about the document" which would be presented to the conference.

According to the report, the Palestinians want solutions for Jerusalem status and the refugees but the Israeli team wants the document to focus on the form of the Palestinian statehood which should be secular and has a stable economy instead of focusing on the commitment from the Jewish state.

Yasser Abed Rabou, a member of the Palestinian team, told reporters on Sunday that the delegation will "clearly demand an end to the Israeli occupation and the right of return for the refugees before starting negotiations on establishing a Palestinian statehood."

The crew will also try to reach a framework agreement before going to participate in a U.S.-hosted Middle East peace conference slated for November, Abed Rabou said.
